Gisborne pro surfer Ricardo Christie was knocked out of the HIC Pro Qualifying Series contest at Hawaii’s Sunset Beach this morning (NZ time).
Christie placed third in his Round 4 heat with a score of 11.07 (5.17, 5.9) for his two best waves.
Australian Dion Atkinson won with 14.4 (7.33,
7.07), with Hawaiian Luke Shepardson also advancing in second on 13 (6.9, 6.1).
Christie had won his Round 3 heat with 11.77 (7.17, 4.6).
The HIC Pro is a 3000-point contest and Christie went into it sitting 14th on the QS standings and well in contention for qualifying for next year’s Championship Tour.
