Poverty Bay Bowling Club’s team won the Peck Shield for women and the Kahutia team won the Yelverton Shield for men in tricky winds on fast greens at Gisborne Bowling Club.

Junior bowlers from Gisborne, Poverty Bay, Kahutia, Te Karaka and Tolaga Bay clubs competed in the Interclub 5s this month.

Clubs selected teams of five men and/or five women to compete for them. Clubs were represented by a pair and a triple, the winners being decided by overall points after six games.

The Pinn family were represented in both winning teams. Mother Karen was in the Poverty Bay team who won the Peck Shield, and father Geoff and sons Kyle and Liam were in the Kahutia team who won the Yelverton Shield.
