From there, Nathan just had to keep his dad away from scoring big, which Nathan did to win his eighth centre title and second title towards his gold star.
Nathan won three games and drew one to qualify in the event.
In the quarterfinals, he eliminated younger sister Kayla Trowell, who also played nice bowls all day.
In the semifinal, Nathan defeated Pauline Stone 10-2, while Malcolm Trowell took care of David Lynn in the other semifinal, 11-1.
Lynn teamed with Lois Lamont in the centre open pairs one week later, just scraping in to qualify in the event with two wins and one draw.
From there, though, it was as if a switch had been flicked on. Lamont and Lynn played some great bowls against Bryan Pulley and Coralie Campbell-Whitehead to win their semifinal 15-2. This victory included a maximum six shots on one end.
In the final, Lynn and Lamont came up against Andrew Rickard and his son Adam Rickard.
After five ends of the nine-end final, the score was locked at 5-5.
End 6 was critical. Lynn picked up three shots to go 8-5 up. One point to Rickard on End 7 and one to Lynn on End 8 took the score to 9-6.
On the last end, Lynn picked the kitty up and tucked it into some of Lamont’s waiting bowls, which left Rickard with an impossible shot. Lynn picked up two points and the win, 11-6.
In the semifinal, the Rickards took care of Warren Gibb and Akuhata Keelan 11-1.
