Horouta Koura wing defence Skye Swann (pictured above) gets a hand to the ball before Ngatapa’s Caroline Gregory in a Premier Grade netball game at the YMCA on Saturday.
Ngatapa will look to bounce back from a 52-24 defeat when they face Gisborne Girls’ High Senior A at the Y tonight
(6pm start). But they face a tough challenge.
The students comfortably beat them in the Premier-Premier Reserve Challenge round games and have been playing solidly in the past couple of weeks including an excellent win over Waikohu and victory over YMP (2) on Saturday. Top seeds Turanga FM are out to extend their perfect record this season in tonight’s 7.30pm game against Claydens Waikohu. The last time these two sides met ended in a seven-goal win to YMP but recent results suggest tonight could be closer than that. Waikohu bounced back from their loss to the Girls’ High with a win over Whangara Old Girls, who last Wednesday pushed YMP to the limit before going down by just one goal.
