Patutahi

The immense contribution George Brown has made to Patutahi Golf Club has been recognised.

At Patutahi’s recent AGM, Brown was unanimously elected as a life member of the club.

“He has certainly made a big contribution to the running of the club in his role as club captain,” a monthly committee meeting report said.

Brown joins club president Tony Green and Kevin Philip as life members.

In other news, long-time course convener Chris Parker retired from the committee, having played a major role in improving the quality of our greens and upgrading the course irrigation system.

Abbie Davis (women’s club captain) and Lyall Anania were welcomed on to the committee.

The Enterprise Motor Group Christmas Hams tournament was a huge success, attracting a capacity field of 135 players.

The Toa brothers and an out-of-town mate lifted the silverware in the Lowe Bros Cup aggregate teams’ stableford on Christmas Eve.

Played off the short red tees on a par-68 course, the cup produced red-hot scoring to match.

The Toa boys and Dan Peatroy, a member of Auckland’s Windross Farm, compiled 124 points to win.

Beau was the mainstay, winning the individual net with 58.

But the solo performance of the day came from Tairāwhiti representative and joint course record-holder Dan Collier who shot 59 on his own.
