Electrinet Park
Tairāwhiti masters representative Pete Stewart got 2024 off to a career milestone start at the Park on Tuesday.
The man known as “Legend” shot 1-under 71 off the white tees — his first sub-par round.
That he hadn’t been in red figures before would be a surprise to some considering the quality of a player who has been an integral part of Park’s Oligoi Jug men’s interclub pennants success over the past two years.
Stewart was naturally delighted with his efforts, which featured three birdies — including two twos — in his opening five holes, and another two on the 15th and 16th holes.
He signed for 71-4-67 and was no doubt helped along by playing partner and Tairāwhiti national interprovincials rep Daniel Collier, who carded 72.
“Hope more is to come,” Stewart said on Facebook.
