ANOTHER “island” title goes on the line at the Awapuni Road track tomorrow night when Gisborne Speedway Club hosts the Autotech North Island TQ Championship.
A great 16-strong line-up at the Eastland Group Raceway includes 1NZ Aaron Humble, 2NZ Kayden Barker and 3NZ Terence Dorrell.
Gisborne drivers Dylan MacGregor (17G), Seth McKay
(48G) and Karl Carpendale (77G) will be in the mix too.
“I think this weekend the Gisborne club is looking strong to take home more silverware,” said club secretary Aarom Lum.
“We have the likes of Dylan MacGregor and his vast experience in the sport, as well as Karl Carpendale who, although new to the class, has shown the pace to make him a real contender.
“We also have Seth McKay, who bought his car from meeting sponsor Rob Gomm and has taken every opportunity to show why no one should count him out this weekend.
“The battle will be hard fought, though, with 1, 2 and 3NZ all set to try to spoil the day for our guys.
“It will be racing well worth watching.”
The rest of the line-up includes 4B Bart Dudding, 7G John Taylor, 8A Dylan Cooke, 12A Nathan Brough, 18A Shaun Cooke, 21A Dayna Lowry, 25A Kate Groshinski, 43R Julian Munro, 45A Coeghan Van Lieshout and 56A Regan Tyler.
“In the youth ministocks, Koby Gooch (59G) will be keen to continue his hot streak as he returns from his trip to Huntly speedway as the Under-14 Future of Speedway Ministock victor,” Lum said.
The support programme tomorrow night also includes streetstocks, production saloons and stockcars.
“We also have club members travelling away this weekend. Sam Hughes and his 77G superstock are headed to Huntly to contest the Superstock North Island Championship.
“He and James Clarke (29G) will be drivers to watch after their stellar performance at the New Zealand championship in Huntly.”
