THE Poverty Bay under-18 girls sevens teams left for New Caledonia this morning.
The Red and White teams, coached by Trish Hina and Amoe Tarsau, will compete in the New Caledonia sevens tournament, featuring teams from Fiji, New Caledonia, Australia and Tahiti.
Trish and Amoe said the tournament was astep on the road to “bringing the girls to the notice of national age-group selectors, with the ultimate goal of having someone from here represent New Zealand at sevens or 15s”.
