Te Puke’s skill and know-how came to the fore in a successful Super 11 Ultimate Festival hosted by Gisborne Intermediate School last week.

Five intermediate schools — Gis Int, Ilminster, Te Puke, Mount Maunganui and Tauranga — competed at the festival which is part of the Super 11 programme involving 11 Gisborne and Bay of Plenty schools in 28 different sports .

Gis Int had four teams in the festival, Te Puke and the Mount two apiece, and Tauranga and Ilminster one apiece.

They played round-robin in two pools, followed by semifinals and positional playoffs.

The final was between Gis Int Gliders and a Te Puke side.

Gis Int sports coordinator Wayne Ensor said Te Puke ran a dedicated ultimate programme at school and it showed in their skill level and teamwork as they won convincingly.
