Electrinet Park player Dan Collier cracks a drive off the first tee in the final of the Oligoi Jug men’s interclub matchplay pennants at the Poverty Bay course on Sunday. Collier was in sublime form as his Park (1) team outplayed Poverty Bay to retain the title, winning all four matches of the 36-hole final. Collier was 2-under the card after 18 holes and went on to beat Mark Jefferson 12 and 11. Collier said he wanted to play well for his Papa, the late Chic Brown — “who would have been watching for sure”. It was no coincidence that when his Nana, Frieda Brown, arrived to watch him, Collier turned up the heat, making four birdies in six holes. The other members of the championship-winning Park team on Sunday were Anaru Reedy, Tony Akroyd and Pete Stewart.Picture by Paul Rickard
