GISBORNE-Mahia surfer Ricardo Christie advanced to round 3 of the Vans World Cup of Surfing contest at Hawaii’s Sunset Beach this morning (NZ time).
Christie finished second in his round 2 heat with a score of 10.94 (5.17, 5.77) for his two best waves. The heat was won by Australian
Jack Robinson with 11.67 (4.00, 7.67). The top move into round 3. Brazilian Willian Cardoso (10.34) was third and Hawaiian Evan Valiere (4.67) fourth.
The world cup is the second event of the World Surf League’s Triple Crown and is also the last Qualifying Series 10,000 contest of the year.
