Talent and enthusiasm were displayed in large quantities at the inter-primary school rugby sevens tournament held on the Rectory field last week.
Twenty-six boys' and girls' teams from schools throughout the district took part in the Poverty Bay Rugby Football Union-run competition.
While there were winners and losers, the main
thrust of the tournament was giving kids the opportunity to play.
Union junior and women's game development officer Mitch Purvis said a number of those who took part did not play in the JAB Saturday competition, so it was nice for them to be involved.
Mangapapa won the boys' final while Kaiti won the girls' title.
