Adamson started playing serious golf less than three years ago and has got himself down to an 8-handicap.
His handicap drop, ball-striking ability and player unavailability saw him promoted from Tolaga Bay’s Endeavour men’s handicap pennants team to the Oligoi Jug interclub senior pennants squad this year.
And he’s loved mixing it with the big boys — a challenge he will look to add to in the senior club champs.
MATT Henwood called it “a lucky shot” and credited “a lucky charm” after his ace effort at Electrinet Park last week.
The former Bay of Plenty rugby representative holed out with a pitching wedge on the 112-metre 14th hole.
The ball pitched past the pin then spun backwards and in, although Henwood wasn’t sure.
“I couldn’t see it but I told the boys I wanted to see it was in first before we celebrated.”
Those boys were fellow teachers Craig Christophers, Ian Loffler and Bailey Matoe.
Henwood said Christophers was something of “a lucky charm”, having been witness to several ace shots in recent times.
It was the second hole-in-one for the Lytton High head of technology, who plays off a 4-handicap at his home Park course.
His first came as an 18-year-old at Opotiki’s 15th hole while doing a bursary assessment for physical education.
Henwood marked his latest effort with the obligatory shout — a few Guinnesses at The Rivers.
