A total of $208,935 was granted across Tairāwhiti to help out in the community in the latest funding round of New Zealand Community Trust.

Poverty Bay Rugby Football Union was allocated the largest amount, $100,817.63.

This will be spent on travel and accommodation; contractor — competitions manager (excluding expenses); salary — game development manager, senior and performance (excluding benefits and allowances); salary — game development manager, junior and women’s (excluding benefits and allowances).

Other grant recipients, in descending order of amounts allocated —

Club Surfcity Inc: $30,000, for salary.

Tairāwhiti Multicultural Council: $20,650, for grab bag items; hi vis jackets.

Gisborne Trampoline Club Inc: $20,000, for salary.

Gisborne Harrier Club Inc: $13,048.71, for contractor – club coach and event director; defibrillator; portaloo hire.

Special Olympics NZ: $9246.73, for salaries of sports director and regional sports coordinators.

CCS Disability Action Tairāwhiti Hawke’s Bay Inc: $7650, for generator, Gisborne district.

Capital Football Inc — No.5 District Federation of NZ Football Inc: $5571.99, for travel and accommodation for 2023 National Youth Development League.

National Heart Foundation of NZ: $1950, for defibrillators for Auckland, Gisborne and Wellington.

Total allocated: $208,935.06.
