A109 Light Utility Helicopter flight with mayor Gisborne City from the air in November 2023.

Citizens and politicians who want to improve our health, education and welfare should read Rebecca Macfie’s series of articles in the Listener. She visits communities where dedicated local people are at work to include and inspire people who need help.

In the first article she visits Tairāwhiti to observe the work of Manaaki Tairāwhiti. In the second article she visits Hastings where the mayor and the chief executive of the council are working with community organisations such as iwi to address the housing crisis which is fundamental to improving child health. In the third article she visits Porirua where a local kindergarten has become a hub of social welfare.

I urge everyone to read these articles.
