Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises Gisborne District Council started emergency wastewater work on State Highway 35 Wainui Road today.
Work started at 10am and will continue until Saturday.
“This emergency work is required to remove a blockage,” a Waka Kotahi spokeswoman said.
“Work will continue night and day until
the blockage has been removed. A 30kmh temporary speed limit will be in place until the work is complete.
“The worksite is on Wainui Road, in front of The Esplanade, at what can be a busy intersection, with traffic travelling to and from the port. People are asked to take extra care and follow the directions of traffic management staff and signs.”
