Women’s Institute members here will be out recruiting next week as part of the organisation’s awareness month.

“We began in 1921 and have remained relevant for women in town and country communities since then,” Poverty Bay-Wairoa branch president Alison Crawford said.

“We are a completely voluntary organisation, depending on no other group or government for monetary support.

“We offer a place where in this modern  world we as women can take some ‘me’ time.”

Members will be at the HB Williams Memorial Library from 9am to 1pm on Tuesday and Thursday next week.

“Come along and meet our members, look at scrapbooks and see what we enjoy from belonging to our great WI,” Mrs Crawford said.

“Decorate  jars to take home, make flower globes with flowers to also take home. We will have a free lucky draw each day and box of  giveaways for you to chose from.”

WI Awareness Month will end with members here doing a pensioners’  biscuit drop.

They will also be at the A&P Spring Show where they will be running a free lucky draw and guess the number of lollies in the jar for children.
