Another bout of rain and wind is expected to hit the Gisborne-East Cape region overnight and tomorrow with a subtropical low moving south-east over the North Island.
MetService says there is a moderate confidence of warning amounts of rain about the Bay of Plenty and Tairāwhiti north of Ruatoria tomorrow — the top of East Cape.
“Strong winds accompany this low and there is a moderate risk of severe north-east gales from tomorrow into Saturday, affecting much of the North Island from Taranaki to Hawke’s Bay northwards.”
“As the low moves away, there is a low risk of severe westerly gales about central Hawke’s Bay and the Tararua District on Sunday.”
Yesterday morning there were no watches or warnings in place for the Gisborne-East Cape region, but MetService advised people to keep up to date with the latest forecasts. — RH
