“The stock were well presented and we had plenty of people here for it,” he said.
“The bidding was brisk and we had bulls going all around the country.”
Stud operators Tom Sanson and Andrew Cribb were delighted with how it went.
“It was a strong sale right to the last bull,” they said.
“They were all good station bulls and they will move and work well for their new owners.”
They were also pleased with the sale of semen packages they had, the semen straws from a stud in Australia and another stud elsewhere in New Zealand.
The best price paid for the packages was $310 a straw, with 10 straws in a package.
“It was a good sale overall for us and we picked up a couple of new clients,” Tom Sanson said.
“If you take away the big price paid last year (a bull sold to Tawa Hills at Motu for $92,000), our sale average keeps on rising, which is very pleasing.
“We also got strong community support again.
“We were inundated with people wanting to help us out on the day, which we really appreciated.”
