Opinion

Re: Race disproven in modern biology, October 12 column.

Tanith, I am trying to figure out what you are saying — if you are trying to send me (a white person) on a guilt trip, it won't work. We need to look forward, not back.

But if we were to look back, we should not be selective. No doubt your whakapapa includes those you are derogatory about. Did not selling heads, slavery and cannibalism happen before white man arrived?

I think there is a lot of goodwill about in trying to make amends for past wrongs. It is counterproductive to incite ill-feeling between people. Can we not go forward together in harmony?

We all know that the past is littered with injustices and wrongs. It is simple to recount those. Let's see if you have the intelligence and leadership skills to suggest ways to create a better society.
