Wairoa’s David Scragg took out the zig zag hunt title yesterday at the North Island championships being staged on Lochinvar Station near Taupo.
He and his dog Chook scored 96 points in their qualifying run, and 97.5 in the final runoff for event three.
Leo Edginton from Tolaga Bay and Robert were fourth with scores of 97.5 and 94.5.
Brad McHardy from Waingake and June were sixth and George Sheild and Smoke from Tolaga Bay seventh, after going into the final as top qualifiers.
In event four, the straight hunt, Whatatutu’s Taylor Rika and Wag took a highly creditable third place.
