Re: Reality that swift action is needed, July 31 editorial.

Noted, but:

1. No specific suggestions proposed on how the Government takes the people with it to cut emissions.

2. The Paris accord exhorts the signatories to adapt to the adverse impacts of climate change and foster climate resilience and low greenhouse gas emissions development, in a manner that does not threaten food production. We haven't quite worked that one out.

3. Do you really think China will do anything meaningful before it has to — in 2030? Last year 350 coal-fired power plants were under construction on the planet and these included seven in South Korea, 13 in Japan, 52 in India and 184 in China.

4. Local investment so there is adaption to climate change has not been strong. There has been dilly-dallying over fully raising the big river stopbank heights and there has been token compliance with building in the coastal hazard zones.
