Firefighters from Gisborne and Te Karaka turned out early yesterday morning after a ute on a property at Ormond caught fire, and flames threatened a nearby haybarn.
The 111 call came in at around 1.30am.
“The resident saw an orange glow outside and went to investigate,” a senior firefighter said.
“Flames were coming out of the engine bay of the ute and a 111 call was placed.”
The ute was fully involved when the fire crews arrived.
