The Trust Tairāwhiti Eastland Rescue Helicopter flew two people to Gisborne Hospital on Thursday afternoon after a collision between two utes just north of Anaura Bay Road on SH35.
The chopper was heading home from Tauranga Hospital, to where they had flown a critically ill patient they had treated in Te Kaha earlier in the afternoon, when they were directed to the vehicle crash.
“One vehicle had collided with the rear of another stationary vehicle,” an emergency services spokesman said.
“The two people flown to hospital were both status four, with minor injuries.”
