I cannot believe that this consistently inept council are going to hit us with another rates rise.
I understand that rates are a must but try as I might, I can’t see where they are being spent where they are needed. Gisborne looks like a town dying of neglect . . . dirty, empty shops — the council should make landlords maintain these — roads are a series of potholes, footpaths are uneven and trip hazards, sewage released into our rivers . . . nothing we don’t know about and it seems as though none of them are being addressed.
This council is comfortable being the ambulance at the bottom of the cliff. But our Mayor never misses a photo shoot. It’s time for us locals to demand better service from them and I believe it will start when we elect people who aren’t serving their own agendas, and start working for the people of Tairāwhiti.
