In a further reply to Bernard Moran’s “Christian Comment” on Saturday, July 1st, Hebrew belongs to a group of languages that have grammatical gender.
In Hebrew virtually every noun (as well as most verbs and pronouns of the second and third person) is either grammatically masculine or feminine.
For example, “Wisdom” is a feminine noun. “Wisdom is justified of HER children,” appears several times in the Bible yet we do not think of Wisdom as being a physical woman. God is a masculine noun so why think of God as being a physical man? Does God have a penis? What would be the point, there is no Mrs God.
Gender and sexuality are things of this world. Jesus said “You are of this world, I am not of this world.” He also said “In Heaven they neither marry or are given in marriage.” Think about it.
