A TOLAGA Bay group on a cultural exchange to Tahiti have been popular on social media this week after they performed a waiata for staff at a McDonald’s restaurant in Tahiti in thanks for quick service.
The 55 members of Te Aitanga a Hauiti ki Uawa turned up at at
the restaurant around 9pm one night during their Tahitian visit.
They were all served their meals within 45 minutes and were full of praise for the speedy service.
Their waiata was recorded and put online. One of the tour party said, “McDonald’s Tahiti were kind of in a state of shock when two busloads of hungry Maori walked in at about 9pm, but wow they delivered!”
The waiata video has attracted thousands of views.
