Work begins today at Tatapouri Hill, on State Highway 35, to replace a rockfall fence.
Stop/go traffic management will be in place and a 30 kmh temporary speed restriction will apply through the area.
The project is part of further work on SH35 north of Gisborne to improve the safety and resilience of the area.
“Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is reminding road users to expect delays as a result of the work and we want to thank communities in advance for their patience while travelling through the area,” a statement said.
The work is expected to take 12 days to complete, with work crews onsite Monday to Friday.
