As cyclone-affected farms and horticulture blocks continue to dry out, it is time to bring in the Enhanced Taskforce Green teams, says Tairāwhiti Rural Support Trust coordinator/facilitator Vicki Crosswell.
These trained workers have been funded by the Ministry of Social Development (MSD) and have the tools, equipment and clothing to
carry out fence clearing and minor repairs, and branch and debris removal for farmers, growers, marae and schools.
“The Rural Support Trust is working with Tūranga Ararau and MSD to have groups of up to 12 people, including the supervisor, working on properties,” Ms Crosswell said.
“Farmers and horticulturists should note there is no cost for the use of these gangs and they come with boots, gloves, spades, hand tools etc.
“If you would like to have a group work on your property then get in touch with me and I will contact you to assess your work requirements and place you on a location priority list,” Ms Crosswell said.
