Re: A different kind of hero to look up to, April 24 letter.
It is an absolute pleasure to read such a balanced and articulate letter by a young person whom I suspect knows about the “years of academic study and hard work” that she has acknowledged Ashley Bloomfield hadto sacrifice, as she has, to gain the skills she has demonstrated in her correspondence. After being barraged by the claims of “self-made men” over past decades from people who never acknowledge any benefit from education, let alone parents or caregivers, it is refreshing to see the result of what I suspect is a product of family input and a lot of talented and caring teachers in our privileged community.
