The winning Second Division Lotto ticket for Saturday night’s draw was sold at Pak’nSave Gisborne.

Anyone who bought their ticket from the above store should check their ticket as soon as possible in-store, on MyLotto, or through the MyLotto App.

Matawhero sheep sale report, November 15

The Matawhero sheep sale last Friday which saw 430 head yarded turned out to be a good, quick sale with some fair prices paid.

“In the prime pens some old season lambs sold for $138 up to $200,” said PGG Wrightson’s Cody Clark.

Prime ewes sold well, from $85 to $110 for the larger heavier types.

“Two-tooth ewes met good demand and sold from $115 to $121,” he said.

Several rams were sold, making $92.

“Only a couple of pens of store lambs were offered and they made $92 to $106.

“Several smaller pens of store lambs sold between $60 and $123,” Clark said.

To complete the yarding two lines of ewes with lambs at foot sold all counted for $65 and $76.

Gisborne Superstockers win in Huntly

The Gisborne Speedway Club’s superstock development team won the big invitational teams event held at Huntly International Speedway at the weekend.

There were teams there from Auckland, Whanganui, Huntly, Bay Park, Rotorua and Palmerston North.

Gisborne’s team of Brodie and Tyler James, James Clarke and Sean Gooch won all their races to take the title.

They defeated the Rotorua Rascals and the Whanganui Warriors in the heats.

In the semifinals, they came up against Huntly’s team and were victorious again.

In the final, they faced Whanganui again. Brodie Tyler and James Clarke finished first and second to win the championship.

Progress made on cyclone destroyed bridge removal

The council has made “positive progress” in the project to remove debris from seven of the eight bridges around the region destroyed during Cyclone Gabrielle.

Work on the final location, Mangatai Bridge on Te Kowhai Rd, has started.

“This work to clear debris from waterways and surrounding land helps prevent environmental damage or changes to natural river flow,” the council reported on social media.

“Our contractors have finished removing bridge debris at Hangaroa Rd, Burgess Rd, Bruce Rd and Upper Mata Rd, Hikuwai Rd, Bushy Knoll Rd and Ruakaka Rd.”
