Support for the petition opposing the potential sale of the Huiarua and Matanui stations to overseas forestry interests climbed past the 2500 mark yesterday, and Gisborne-Wairoa Federated Farmers has had more than 35,000 views on it on their website.
It was launched as part of the submission process in opposition
to the Overseas Investment Office application lodged for the sale. Provincial Feds president Toby Williams has thanked all those who have signed it so far, and he hopes for many more.
The petition is no longer available for signing at Farmlands due to Covid rules, but it is available at Larsen Sawmilling, and via the Gisborne/Wairoa Federated Farmers Facebook page.
