Firefighters were called to Awapuni Road near the Pacific Street corner late on Sunday night after a stolen car was set alight.
The call to the burning vehicle came into Fire and Emergency NZ at around 11pm that night.
“It was fully involved when we got there and was totally burnt out,” a senior firefighter said. They were told the vehicle had been unlawfully taken from Hawke’s Bay.
Police have an inquiry under way.
