A109 Light Utility Helicopter flight with mayor Gisborne City from the air in November 2023.

The overnight road resurfacing works on State Highway 2 from Bartletts to Muriwai went well over several nights last week, according to New Zealand Transport Agency/Waka Kotahi.

It was scheduled to return from tonight, weather permitting.

That section of road was closed in both directions overnight from Monday and ending on Thursday night/Friday morning last week.

“The asphalt team has made a start in laying the large amount asphalt on that section of the highway,” an NZTA spokesman said.

“They have completed all of the mill and fill areas of the highway and laid two shifts over the overlay surface.
