The Poverty Bay Horticulture Society will be holding their annual Spring Show on Saturday. Camellias, daffodils, floral art and herbs are just some of what will be on show.
The society is soon to celebrate its 100th year of spring shows, says Mrs Jean Torrie, former president and multiple winner
at previous shows.
With the variety of cut flowers, vegetables and fruit, Mrs Torrie said people liked to attend to, for example, discover new varieties of the camellia group. The name was displayed on the vase so people could make a note of it to follow up if they wanted to buy the variety.
“Being able to view the item directly gives people an insight as to what the colour of the flower looks like, or size,” she said.
The show is at the Farmers Air Showground Events Centre tomorrow from 12 noon to 5pm. Afternoon tea will be available and there will be food on site to be purchased. Admission is $5 with children under 12 free. Sales tables will be set up, along with the displays.
