A successful cruise ship season continued to flow when the Silver Whisper and the National Geographic Orion came calling over the weekend.

On Saturday, the Whisper had 300-plus passengers come ashore in the tenders and they filled up a lot of space on the Wa165 steam train in a trip to Muriwai, along with cycling and winery tours.

The Orion docked on Sunday and her 109 passengers made a farm visit and went to wineries. A ships agents spokesman said the Saturday visit went well considering the tricky sea conditions.

“Both days were a success.”  The Whisper sailed for Tauranga; the Orion for the Aldermen Islands.
