Matawai dog triallist Samantha Shaw finished third and fourth in the zig zag hunt final at the New Zealand championships at the Warepa Collie Club grounds near Balclutha on Friday.

She and Rogue had finished in third place in the South Island championships in event three and went on to the New Zealand final runoff.

The pairing finished with an aggregate score of 192.75 points, with a final run worth 95 to add Shaw’s qualifying score of 97.75.

She and Rogue finished just one point behind the New Zealand championship winner Clark Chrystal from the Waikoau Club in Hawke’s Bay, and half a point behind second place.

Samantha and her other dog Lottie finished fourth with runs of 97 in qualifying and 90 in the national final.
