“FrockStars” of Gisborne will be back rocking their frocks each Friday from this week, to raise awareness and funds for mental health services in Tairāwhiti.

The Frocks on Friday fundraising initiative, first started last year, returns  over the warmer months, with all funds going to Gisborne-based charity Hear4U.

“The community engagement over our first season was humbling and inspiring. Hundreds of people got involved — all ages, walks of life, professions — entire workplaces even,”  FoF founder Jo McLean said.

“We raised $10,000 which was donated to Hear4U to support the amazing work they do for the people of Tairāwhiti. There was a resounding call to repeat it all again, and it’s shaping up to be bigger and even better.

“The concept is intentionally simple, so that absolutely anyone can participate. On Fridays  wear a frock as you go about your day and feel fabulous. Share a selfie on social media and koha to the cause if you are in a position to do so.

“Don’t save your dresses just for special occasions — celebrate yourself and bring some joy to each other.”
