A search and rescue operation resumed this morning for two hunters missing on the Bay of Plenty side of the Raukumara Forest Park on the East Cape.
Police were notified at 11.10am yesterday about two people overdue from a hunting trip.
“They went into the park from the Opotiki track, north to the summit ridge, and were expected to follow a creek back out," police said.
“A search and rescue team and the police Eagle helicopter searched the area yesterday with no success. The search resumed this morning.”
At the time The Herald went to print today, no further information was available on where the pair were from and no update had come through on the search.
