The Rapid Relief Team’s community support day on Friday in Dunstan Road was a huge success with more than 300 local farmers taking home free $1500 fencing packages, enough fencing gear to repair or replace 90kms of Cyclone damaged fencing.
“It was great to see the community turn out and show our farmers that we’ve got their back,” said RRT NZ director Danny Blampied. “When we’re going through tough times, you’ve got to let people know that you care about them and what they do for the community. That’s why we held this event.”
Wendy and Murray Burgess said RRT’s Farmers Community Connect event, was “a bright spot in a tough year.”
In all, as well as the fencing gear, 750 meals and 700 coffees were served by the RRT volunteers. Mr Blampied said RRT was the charitable arm of the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church.
“We re dedicated to helping those people and communities in their times of need.”
