There are a small number of people who write to this paper incessantly to advise and inform us with their knowledge and opinions on a wide variety of topics. Woe betide anyone who questions them as their replies are ridiculed and insulted in a very rude manner. I question whether they would speak to anyone in this manner, unless to a deaf person , or accompanied by a bodyguard.
Are these rude and insulting replies a product of Facebook and other social media?
To quote from an opinion on November 24, “the ability to discuss complex issues openly and respectfully is a hallmark of democratic society”.
It is time for the editor to refuse to publish such insulting replies. There is enough strife in the world, and whatever happened to courtesy?
