This is one of 503 store lambs from Puketia Station P/S at Te Wera, sold at Matawhero yesterday. Their top pick of 237 male lambs were in very good condition and sold for $144, the best price at the sale. Overall prices paid were similar to last week. Picture by Trevor Brown

A smaller yarding of 1548 sheep was sent to the weekly Matawhero Saleyards yesterday, prices paid being similar to those at recent sales.

The bulk of the numbers consisted of 1295 store male lambs.

The best price paid for these was $144 for 237 well-presented male lambs from the Puketia Station P/S at Te Wera. This vendor also received $126 for 50 store ewe lambs.

The 13 prime ewes entered sold from $140 down to $90.  Andrew Falloon sold 18 two-tooth ewes for $130.

These were of medium size, in good condition and had been run with a Poll Dorset ram since March 24.

Store ewe lambs: Puketia Station P/S, 50, $126, 11, $102; Matuku Trust, 19, $125, 48, $93, 20, $40; JL & WL Hindrupp, 15, $92.
