Police claim a man given permission to leave his electronically-monitored bail address in Waihi and return to Gisborne for a relative’s birthday, took that opportunity to commit further serious offences here.
Raniera Tekooti Reuben, 31, was already facing Crown-scheduled charges of aggravated burglary and threatening to kill or do grievous
bodily harm when he allegedly foiled his GPS tracker on November 25 and robbed a man in Gisborne of an ounce of cannabis.
It resulted in him being further charged with aggravated robbery and behaving in a threatening manner in public — Patrick Street.
The robbery was said to have been aggravated by the presence of an alleged co-offender and a wrench.
During an arrest list in Gisborne District Court yesterday, counsel Heather Vaughn applied to have Reuben readmitted to EM-bail but Judge Warren Cathcart refused and remanded Reuben into custody.
