Work to resurface the section of State Highway 2 between Bartletts and Muriwai begins on Monday night with the first of several overnight road closures, depending on the weather.

New Zealand Transport Agency Waka Kotahi plans to work on the section of highway between Nicks Head Station Road and Maraenui Road, starting that night.

The schedule for overnight closures — from 8pm to 5am — starts on Monday, January 22, and runs to Thursday January 25, followed by Tuesday, January 30, to Saturday, February 3, and Wednesday, February 7, to Friday,  February 9.

“The overnight closures will allow teams to carry out the resurfacing much more quickly and safely than they would otherwise be able to under alternative traffic management,” the NZTA said.

“These works are dependent on various factors and may be rescheduled.
