A109 Light Utility Helicopter flight with mayor Gisborne City from the air in November 2023.
Firefighters were called out twice last night to two quite different emergencies, one that involved overcooked food and the other to help someone trapped in a bathroom.
Fire and Emergency NZ received the first call at 6pm to a house in Daphne Street in Kaiti, where food in the oven
had overcooked and started to smoke.
“The family in the home got out OK and the fire crews removed the smoking food outside,” a senior firefighter said.
“Then we ventilated the house to get rid of a considerable amount of smoke that had built up.
“There was a little bit of smoke damage caused by the incident,” he said.
