It’s been reported that people are taking on second jobs to make ends meet. That shouldn’t be necessary.
Instead, your primary employer should pay you enough to live so you don’t need to work two jobs.
In just 40 years, we’ve degraded from being a country where families could surviveon one income to one where a household needs two incomes and then still struggles.
Yet those who hold the wealth have become richer than they’ve ever been.
Profits keep growing and there have been meteoric rises in the price of power, water, food, gas, housing and all that we need to be comfortable.
This all tells me that the workers’ share has declined and businesses are taking a larger share.
We say we’re in a cost-of-living crisis but it seems very much like a cost-of-greed crisis to me. Those who have more expect to get a larger and larger share of the wealth created by workers.
Thank goodness that we have a Government trying to help with pensioners and others to get a bigger-than-usual pay rise on April 1.
