Safety assessments are being made after a large section of a Māhia cliff-face slipped into the sea on Wednesday.

A local Facebook community page showed a picture of the slip with a house at the top of the cliff.

A spokeswoman for Wairoa District Council said it had received information regarding the slip at Te Māhia.

“Staff are attending the site and will liaise with affected property owners and other relevant partners. Safety remains paramount.”
