Work continues at Makorori carpark as part of a New Zealand Transport Agency upgrade to several rest areas around the East Cape.

The upgraded rest areas will provide a mix of fully serviced facilities, picnic areas and laybys.

Picnic areas will be installed at Makorori South and Tikitiki, while layby areas will be built at the Ruatoria and Anaura Bay turn-offs.

Work to the popular Makorori south site was scheduled to last for two weeks.
