Residents and holiday-makers at Mahanga have been asked to conserve water, after Wairoa District Council issued a water shortage notice.
“We are experiencing water shortage/over-usage at Mahanga,” a council statement said.
The statement said that on Wednesday, 20,000 litres were used in three hours, “so we are urging homeowners/holiday users to conserve this supplementary water supply and only use when essential.
“Contractors will be inspecting for leaks, taps left on, and will be door knocking spreading the message to conserve water in the coming days.”
