Next Tuesday’s television “head to head” between Chris Hipkins and Christopher Luxon, regarding the policies of the two major contender parties, will make for great TV.
At this stage, the polls are showing that Labour’s policies as they now stand leave Hipkins with only the retention of the law restricting foreign buyers from purchasing Kiwi properties finding much favour with all but party-indoctrinated voters. Labour is appearing to now, more than ever, be strangled by the “albatross around the neck” that was the previous Jacinda Ardern administration, and its attack on our freedoms.
Of course, Luxon is polling well enough at present, and he might garner enough votes to form a coalition goverment. He has of course left the door open to work with Winston Peters and NZ First, which was a wise move.
Hipkins of course blundered by ruling out working with Winston — possibly ruining the chances of otherwise-good Labour politicians becoming part of Government.
Whatever way this election rolls, NZ First is likely to have a “king maker” role once again, with NZ First now conservatively polling 5 percent.
